The second variance meeting went well. Although we had to wait for a contentious lodge application to be presented, argued and tabled, when we finally had to present, it went very smoothly. The mayor asked what our motivation was for doing the renovation.
"Well, we have three boys and..."
"Say no more! Say no more! You have our sympathy already. Motion carried." And bang! went the gavel.
Woo hoo! We are one of the few homes in our neighbourhood that doesn't require a covered parking space. Not that we can afford to do anything with the garage, but eventually...
Now we wait a couple of days, go in and sign the variance papers to go to the Land Title office, then pick up our building permit...
